The Maui Beach Sunhat Ensemble is a perfect weekend project! And what better time of year for a new sunhat?
Last year around this time I was busy working on this design, which won 2nd place in the Battle of the Stitches.
Reminiscent of a straw hat, with the comfort of cotton, the Maui Beach Sunhat Ensemble will surely become a favorite summer wardrobe go-to. The triangle pattern of the hat is airy, while the brim is nice and thick – for ease of shaping and lots of shade. Versatility is also abounding in this set; the 3 separates can be worn 5 different ways:

Back in September (2014), when I first designed this pattern – I had no trouble coming up with a name for it. I was only on about Round 5 when I saw the Sarlacc teeth staring back at me from the Pit of Carkoon. If you are unfamiliar with Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, here is a picture of the creature I am talking about.
and for comparision, here is this hat viewed from the top:

Star Wars has always been a huge part of my family. It’s one of the things I like to geek out over occasionally. Are you the fanatic who will wear Han and Leia inspired barefoot sandals around the house? Or maybe you’re bolder than that and you’ll venture outside and wear them with your flip-flops or at the beach? You can order them as a set, or 2 of either. Perfect for young padawans, too!
They are available for purchase in my Etsy shop

Up until this point, I had only made 2 princes, and they were special orders. I am happy to say that today is the day that I am finally releasing a pattern pack that includes 6 favorite princes (or prince-of-a-guys). These will be so perfect paired up with their matching princess, or for little boys who want to wear their favorite hero!

I was so inspired by the I Love This Yarn Colors in “Pasha” that I revamped this older pattern. Now includes much nicer photos (modeled by my lovely daughter), and instructions for a child’s size.
This is super cute worn over or under the hair, and fastens in back with a button, making adjustments easy.
In case you were wondering, yes. It IS named after Mary Margaret in Once Upon a Time. I mean, how could I NOT name something after her?
