Hi! My name is Teresa, and that is where I got my business name. Teresa means “Harvester” I have been married for 28 years this coming May. My husband and I have 4 children. Three of them are adults, the oldest has been married 6 years, and my baby is 15 years old and has her own crochet business as well!
When I was young a nice elderly neighbor taught me to do some basic crochet, but I didn’t really take to it. I picked it up again when I was pregnant with my first baby in 1985. I made blankets, booties, hats, and bibs. I could read patterns, but never designed anything on my own.
I continued to crochet, for my babies only. After my fourth was born in 1999, I didn’t pick it up again for 10 years! My sister actually made her daughter a beanie, and I thought, “I’m going to make a beanie for my daughter.” Well, I made one. And then another. And then another, until I had piles of beanies in my house with no home. I was only doing it as a fun hobby. My husband suggested that I sell them. So that began my crochet creations business. I signed up for my first craft fair in Spring of 2010, and made lots and lots of stuff (still all by patterns). It wasn’t until a year later when I started making some character hats that my business really grew. I began small, with a hat styled after Minnie Mouse. I was following a lot of crochet pages on Facebook, and saw them creating their own patterns. I really wanted to be able to do that! I just dove in, and found a true love.
Creating crochet character hats is so fulfilling! I pour a lot of time and research into my designs, never copying anything I see that has already been done – instead striving to make something better than what is currently out there.
I love a new challenge, and that is why my motto is, “If you want it, I can make it!” I have not yet had a request that I have been unable to fulfill. I have had some really difficult requests, such as Maleficent and Chernabog. Sometimes I have to walk away from it for a day, and come back with a renewed mind. But I never give up, and am always pleased with the end result. I will never ship out anything that I am unhappy with. Quality is extremely important to me.I crochet mostly in the evening hours until past midnight. It’s the time when I am not interrupted by daily responsibilities. Unless it’s November – December, in which case my daily responsibilities get forsaken while I work nonstop on Christmas orders
One thing I do not like is writing about myself. I hope I gave a good glimpse of “me”. However, I would love to answer your curious questions. Comment below, and I’ll let you in some more “me” stuff
